Peptide: what the word describes

A peptide is a substance made of small parts joined in a row, like beads on a short string. Proteins are made from those same small parts.

The name describes a kind of substance. It does not, by itself, tell you whether that substance is safe.

In the US, medicines are reviewed by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). As of September 2026, FDA approval covers the peptide medicine semaglutide (Ozempic, Wegovy).

An appointment is a chance to discuss a health concern with a clinician, the person assessing your care. You can ask about treatment without deciding on it in advance.

The advertised price is where your cost check starts

In September 2026, a small number of online weight-loss services were checked. They advertised membership fees that did not include the medicine.

That sample is not a price guide for every service. Ask for a written total that names each item and says when it is charged.

Next, separate the parts of the bill.
